Esch, Medea and pictures, Jocelyn Pinero

Medea sneaks Jason things to help him: ointments to make him invincible, secrets in rocks. She has magic, could bend the natural to the unnatural. But even with all her power, Jason bends her like a young pine in a hard wind; he makes her double in two. I know her." -Esch

This quote is relatable to what is going on in Esch's life because it gives her hope for her love life and pregnancy. Also, she specifically says "I know her" as if she knows her because Medea reminds her of herself. I think the main reason she connects with Medea on a personal level is because she wishes she could have the 'supernatural power' or just power in general to fix her love life issues, but since Medea has that type of power and still can't fix her love life makes Esch relate to her even more since they both can't do anything to solve that problem. 



This picture shows Jason trying to talk to Medea and get her attention and she is trying to ignore it by making the drink, but she looks like she cant resist for long because the love for him is too strong to ignore. 






this picture embodies Esch as a character because she is in a real and metaphorical storm with the hurricane going on and her pregnancy at the same time. This picture remind me of her because she is trying to hold on to what is keeping her from falling apart, and the umbrella signifies her hope in getting through the storm and getting through a heartbreak.

    I like the second picture - its really cool and fits really well. I also think that Esch feels an emotional connection to Medea and her strength because she wants to channel the strength she lacks to help her get through the difficult times, i.e. her mother's death, her pregnancy, the hurricane, etc. I think that she sees Medea as a role model.

     Throughout Salvage the Bones, Ward makes connections between Esch and Medea both implicitly and explicitly, seeing as Esch and Medea are very similar characters. Esch relates to the mythical woman and wishes to think of herself as a version of Medea. Trump vs Macbeth: What's the Difference?

Shakespeare’s Macbeth is a bloody and multi-faceted tale of corruption and exploitation. Right off the bat, readers are introduced to conflicted and naive Macbeth, a Scottish general who becomes obsessed with the idea of power, after receiving his prophecy at the beginning of the play from a trio of witches that say he will become King of Scotland. NLMG Connection post- Wes Pierce

Throughout Never Let Me Go, we constantly debated the topic of whether it is okay or not for Kathy and her friends to have their organs harvested in this dystopian setting. Although we know that this is simply a story and nothing more, this is a serious issue in the real world today. In this article by Dale Archer,   he discusses the serious issue of organ harvesting throughout the black market globally. Archer explains the various issues in regards to organ harvesting, such as young children and teenagers suddenly dying because of organ harvesting. He states that many of the "clients" that needs these organs are wealthy, greedy, middle age men in need of an instantaneous transplant. Archer also notes that this organ harvesting process can have ties to human and sex trafficking. The demand for such organs relates to nearly the entire concept of Never Let Me Go mainly because Kathy and her friends don't have a choice that their organs are being taken and they are essential...
