Connection to Never Let Me Go -Jocelyn Pinero

By: Never Let Me Go is similar to the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas because certain people were being treated inhuman and like animals. Although the settings are drastically different where one group is being fed and nurtured, while the other group is being forced to work while being starved and punished, the people around the situation do not do anything about what is going on and watch as if there is nothing wrong. The teachers at Hailsham watch as the children grow up and plan their lives when they know the truth is they are only useful for their organs, and the surrounding families of the soldiers know what is going on and they keep living their lives as if everything is normal.

    I like this comparison; these characters are similar in the way that they are not given a choice in their fate. I also like how you recognized the difference between the two. The Hailsham students were pampered and the prisoners were tortured but both lifestyles eventually lead to their demise.

     Throughout Salvage the Bones, Ward makes connections between Esch and Medea both implicitly and explicitly, seeing as Esch and Medea are very similar characters. Esch relates to the mythical woman and wishes to think of herself as a version of Medea. Trump vs Macbeth: What's the Difference?

Shakespeare’s Macbeth is a bloody and multi-faceted tale of corruption and exploitation. Right off the bat, readers are introduced to conflicted and naive Macbeth, a Scottish general who becomes obsessed with the idea of power, after receiving his prophecy at the beginning of the play from a trio of witches that say he will become King of Scotland. Macbeth soon is consumed with the idea  of all of the power he could potentially have, so he and his wife, Lady Macbeth, devise a plan to murder King Duncan and steal the Scottish throne for himself. Once Macbeth kills King Duncan and claims his position, he starts to act out and behave differently than he did before. While reading this play, Macbeth’s “ambition” and “desire for control” reminded me of President Donald Trump. Nick Traver- Macbeth Connection

There are many connections between the themes and characters of Macbeth and The Lion King. In Macbeth , Macbeth is like Scar in The Lion King. Macbeth kills Duncan for the throne just like Scar kills Mufasa for the throne. Macbeth feels like he is underappreciated when Duncan says Malcolm is next up for the throne, just as Scar felt when he knew that Simba would be king over him. For both characters, Macbeth and Scar, they were both willing to kill people close to them in order to get what they thought they deserved or wanted. Also, Malcolm is sort of like Simba. Both Malcolm and Simba are banished, or cast away from their home after their fathers were killed. Both of them fled for their own safety. Additionally, when they were cast away from society they grew as people, and eventually came back stronger then ever and challenged for the throne.
